Nail Surgery

This procedure can be used to correct recurring ingrowing or problem toenails.

You will first require a Foot Health Check to enable the Podiatrist to assess your feet and advise you if this treatment is appropriate. If so, the Podiatrist will talk you through the procedure and answer questions you may have.

You will need to give details of your medical history to ensure that it is possible for you to undergo this procedure.

On the day of the surgery you will be given local anaesthetic injections in your toe. This may sting a little. The offending part of nail will be removed, and a chemical applied to prevent any re-growth.

Happily, this treatment is successful in 93% of the cases. The toe will then be dressed, and you will have to return in a few days for the Podiatrist to check and re-assess the toe.

You will be given advice on how to care for your toe at home, which can take between 4 to 8 weeks to heal.
